About the cane collection

Cane furniture earned its reputation the hard way. Woven rattan has been used in furniture making for well over two centuries because it does something no solid panel can: it carries weight while staying light, and it breathes, so a chair back stays cool to lean against on a warm afternoon.

Every cane panel in this collection is woven by hand and set into a routed groove in the frame — the traditional method. It is slower and more expensive than gluing a sheet of machine-woven webbing onto the surface, and it is the difference between a panel that lasts decades and one that lifts at the edges within a year.

Choosing the right piece

  • For a small living room — the Heritage 2-Seater or the Dark Cane Bench Sofa. Both sit low with open frames, so they take up far less visual space than their footprint suggests.
  • For a reading corner — the Cane & Rattan Accent Chair. Compact enough for a landing or bedroom nook, with a deep linen seat.
  • For a bedroom refresh — the Cane Headboard pairs with an existing base, which is the cheapest way to change the character of a room.
  • For storage that isn't bulky — the cane-front sideboards. The woven doors keep the piece from reading as a solid block against the wall.

Caring for cane

Cane wants humidity. In a very dry room it can become brittle over years, so keep pieces away from a radiator or a direct heating vent. Dust with a dry brush and, if a panel starts to slacken slightly in summer, it will usually tighten again on its own as the air cools.
