Care guide

Keep it beautiful for decades

Solid wood and natural cane age beautifully when cared for properly. These simple habits will keep your furniture looking its best for years to come.

Caring for your furniture

Dust regularly with a soft, dry brush or cloth to stop grit settling into the weave. Twice a year, wipe with a barely-damp cloth and mild soap, then dry immediately. Never soak cane — it can slacken when wet.

Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. For deeper cleaning, use a lightly damp cloth and dry straight away. Use coasters and placemats to avoid water rings and heat marks.

Our frames are finished with natural, low-VOC oils and waxes. Once or twice a year, apply a thin coat of natural furniture oil or beeswax along the grain, then buff with a soft cloth to restore lustre.

Most of our cushion covers are removable and machine-washable on a gentle, cold cycle — check the care label first. Air-dry flat to avoid shrinkage, and fluff cushions regularly to keep their shape.

Keep furniture out of prolonged direct sunlight, which can fade wood and dry out cane. Avoid placing pieces directly against radiators, heaters or air-conditioning vents.

Blot spills immediately with a clean, absorbent cloth — don't rub. For cushions, spot-clean with a mild detergent. For wood, dry the area promptly to prevent water marks.

Light scratches on wood can often be buffed out with furniture wax. Deeper marks may need a touch of matching wood oil. For cane, a slack panel usually tightens again on its own as the air cools.

Cane likes a little humidity. In a very dry room it can become brittle over years, so avoid radiators and heating vents. In summer, if a panel slackens slightly, it will usually tighten again as the air cools.
